Flavia's Apple Cake

The best of foods often have Italian origins. Authentic Italian recipes usually have simple ingredients, as is the case with this apple cake recipe! We first enjoyed this apple cake in Tuscany while we were on the ultimate of family vacations. The Rossi Family has become our very own "foster family" and they hold a special place in our hearts. This is Momma Flavia's recipe and I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

  We all know baking is a precise art! The scan below is the original scan. We had to convert it from metric to imperial measurements.   I never met an apple I didn't like. You can use your favorite red or green apple. You can't go wrong with a good ol' granny smith!   Learn more about Italy on our sister site It'll make you a better Texan!


1 Stick  Butter (Patrick's Grandmother preferred Falfurrias) 1 Cup | Sugar 1 Cup  Flour 1 Cup  Milk The Zest From 1 Lemon Juice Of ½ Of A Lemon 1 Teaspoon  Baking Powder ¼ Teaspoon  Salt 1 Teaspoon  Vanilla Extract Cage Free Eggs Apples, Thinly Sliced

What To Do:

1. Mix all the ingredients together except the apple slices. 2. Fold the apple slices into the batter. 3. Pour in a 9" cake pan or mould prepared with baking spray. 4. Bake at 350°F for 50-60 minutes. And enjoy!
