A Michael Myers Halloween Shadow DIY Project

So Easy To Make, It's Scary Difficulty: ★★★★★ Required Patience: ★★★★

You can literally transform the dark of night into the magic of Halloween with this easy-to-make DIY Michael Myers Halloween shadow project. Since 1978, Michael has been slashing victims near and far, so when I conjured up how to bring an extra creep factor to our Halloween graveyard, I looked no further than one of America's most popular Halloween icons. My neighbors loved it and they were trying to figure out where the shadow was coming from because during the day, there was no Michael to be found! #Magic! Grab your scissors and let's bring a little slice of Haddonfield, Illinois, to your yard!

Time To Make:

Under an hour

Materials:

Cuttable Corrugated Sign, Foam Board, Or Thin Wood (Approx. 12 Inches Tall)

Cricut Machine (Or Traceable Light)

Scissors Or X-Acto Knife

Dark-Colored Spray Paint (Optional)

Wire Or Wooden Stake (For Placing)

Landscape Light (Or Other Light Source)

How To Make Your Own Michael Myers Halloween Shadow Decor

What To Do:

1. Find Your Michael Silhouette: I did a Google image search to find my Michael Myers silhouette. I downloaded it, took it into Photoshop for clean-up, and finalized my outline. If you need help, drop me an email and I'll send you my digital silhouette.

2. Cut Michael: I sized Michael in my Cricut software and then cut it out onto a piece of paper. If you're not using a Cricut machine, you can laser print the shape and cut it out by hand. Then, trace around the shape onto your foam board. Note: I used an old corrugated plastic sign, which did a great job of repelling rain and sprinkler water.

3. Paint Michael: To help the silhouette be harder to see in the dark, you can paint it with some black, dark brown, or green paint (optional, but recommended). 4. Place Michael: Insert your wire or attach your shape to your stake. At dusk/night, place Michael by a light source - I used one of my existing landscape lights and just aimed it at my garage door. You can project Michael onto a flat surface (fence, stucco wall, or garage door) for best effect. Adjust your light and Michael's placement to your liking.
