Elevate Your Ketchup (And More) Difficulty: ★★★★★ Required Patience: ★★★★★
If you love food with a flavorful spicy kick, you've landed in a good place!
Harissa is a Tunisian paste often made from olive oil, dried chili peppers, spices, garlic, and citrus. I had never really heard of it until I was making Molly Yeh's meaty twice-baked potato recipe, and once I tasted the Harissa Ketchup, I knew I was hooked.
Harissa is easily mixed into your favorite ketchup and it will take it to the next level (think Whataburger's Spicy Ketchup but with a deeper, more diverse flavor profile).
Impress your guests—and yourself—at the same time!
Time To Prepare:
1-2 minutes (literally!)
Foodie Tips:
Harissa comes in a spectrum of flavors, ranging from mild to smoky and spicy. You can surely find a favorite flavor and adjust this recipe for your ultimate enjoyment.
You can use this harissa topping on anything you'd use ketchup. It's great for dipping fries or tots, basted on top of most anything from the grill, even meatloaf. Harissa pairs well with a squeeze of bright citrusy lemon juice.
Who is Molly Yeh? She's one of my favorite foodies, and this recipe comes from her kitchen to ours. We love Molly's pickle pizza, and if you haven't tried it, you are in for a surprise.
Ingredients:
Adjust the amounts to your liking
½ Cup | Ketchup
2 Tablespoons | Harissa (I used Zwïta brand harissa)

What To Do: 1. In a small condiment serving bowl, combine the ketchup and harissa with a spoon or small whisk. 2. You can enjoy your harissa ketchup immediately, or place it in the fridge for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to mingle. Recipes don't get any easier than this!
Yield: Enough for 1-3 lucky people to enjoy the good life. The recipe can be multiplied as desired.
