The Better Butter Difficulty: ★★★★★ Required Patience: ★★★★★
A compound butter can be savory or sweet. Savory varieties can elevate the taste of a range of items, including salmon, steaks, vegetables, pasta, and bread. Sweet versions will bring a new dimension to pancakes, muffins, and cinnamon breads. Once you've had a compound butter, you may likely become a fan, as I did. I often make this herb compound butter when entertaining or when I want to treat the taste buds to something special.
Time To Prepare:
About 10 minutes to prepare, plus another 1-3 hours to allow the butter to come to room temperature, and once prepared, marinate it in the fridge.
Recipe Tips:
To brighten the butter, you can add a few squeezes of fresh-squeezed lemon juice.
Butter bell tips: A butter bell (or butter crock) will keep your butter spreadably smooth at room temperature on your countertop for up to a week. It creates a water-tight seal to block out oxygen and prevents the butter from oxidizing or going rancid. Spreadable butter ensures you're always at the ready for the next great spread.
You'll impress and earn friends for life when serving this butter on homemade bread. My homemade ciabatta recipe yields two loaves and is definitely worth the TLC when making it.

Herb Compound Butter Ingredients: ½ Cup (One Stick) |  Unsalted Butter, Softened
2 Cloves  |  Fresh Garlic, Pressed ¼ - 1 Teaspoon  | Kosher Salt 1 Tablespoon  | Fresh Herbs, Finely Chopped (Thyme, Oregano, Rosemary)

How To Make Herb Compound Butter 1. To soften your butter, let it rest unwrapped on your counter for 30-60 minutes. This will make the butter easier to combine with your chosen ingredients. 2. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, pressed garlic, the kosher salt, and your favorite fresh herbs.
3. You can serve it right away or let the flavors mingle in the fridge for 1-2 hours or for up to 48. For longer storage, you can transfer your creation into a butter bell for up to 1 week. It rarely lasts that long in my home, as I consume it quickly!
